Title:

Electrical Modeller

As an Electrical Designer/Modeller, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of one of Australia's largest and most significant rail infrastructure projects.

Working within the SRL East Linewide Alliance, you will support the development and coordination of electrical systems associated with stations, tunnels, depot and maintenance facilities, rail systems infrastructure, and associated building services. You will be responsible for developing detailed 3D models and design documentation using Revit MEP, AutoCAD and other digital engineering tools, ensuring designs are coordinated, constructible and aligned with project requirements, Australian Standards and client expectations.

Working closely with electrical engineers and multidisciplinary design teams, you will contribute to project delivery from concept through detailed design and construction, helping to shape a transformative piece of infrastructure that will serve Melbourne's growing communities for generations to come.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D electrical models and associated design documentation using Revit MEP, AutoCAD and other relevant modelling platforms.

  • Support the development and delivery of electrical design solutions from concept through to detailed design and construction phases.

  • Prepare high-quality electrical drawings and documentation in accordance with Australian Standards, client requirements and project specifications.

  • Model and coordinate electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, communications, security, earthing, lightning protection, station services, depot facilities and associated rail infrastructure systems.

  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, project teams, clients and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.

  • Participate in design reviews, BIM coordination activities and interdisciplinary workshops.

  • Manage and deliver allocated electrical discipline work packages in accordance with project requirements.

  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve modelling, coordination and design issues.

  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, track, systems and rail disciplines.

  • Ensure all work is completed to agreed standards of quality, cost and schedule.

  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve project performance, constructability, efficiency and technical outcomes.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and digital engineering best practices.

  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality and sustainability.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Associate Diploma, Diploma in Engineering, Advanced Diploma or a related qualification (highly regarded).

  • Experience as an Electrical Designer, Drafter or Modeller within transport, rail, buildings, Defence, utilities, energy or major infrastructure projects.

  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD.

  • Demonstrated experience developing electrical models and drawings for building services, transport infrastructure and/or high-voltage electrical systems.

  • Understanding of electrical systems including power, lighting, communications, security, fire and life safety systems and associated infrastructure.

  • Experience producing accurate electrical drawings and models with minimal supervision.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams in a BIM environment.

  • Familiarity with BIM processes, model coordination and digital engineering workflows.

  • Experience using Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Revizto will be highly regarded.

  • Knowledge of PDF review and mark-up software such as Bluebeam or PDF-XChange.

  • Experience on rail, transport, buildings, Defence, utilities or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • A commitment to safety, environmental and quality standards.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
