This role will be a key member of the Airwallex Controllership Organization. As Finance Director, ANZ you will be responsible for all our entities in Australia and New Zealand, overseeing our key entities across the region. You will play an important role in overseeing the accuracy of financial reporting of the entities within your scope, but also be a key driver in strategic projects like product expansions and license applications. This role will also be a very important contributor on the projects to support our long term IPO ambitions. You will lead a team in Australia and close collaborate with business teams as well as other stakeholders within finance.
Responsibilities:
Lead the AU controllership team in delivering financial reporting, streamlining finance operations, building a control framework, and managing audits.
Support the global controllership organization in executing its IPO readiness agenda for initiatives without and outside of the ANZ region.
Empower your team by leading, mentoring, and developing a strong team of high performing members.
Collaborate with the Global Tax team on tax compliance for your region.
Support a wide range of strategic projects to enable Airwallex to continue its growth in products or licenses.
Fulfill the director responsibilities for Airwallex SVF Pty Ltd and serve as responsible managers for Airwallex Capital Pty. Ltd.
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance domain to increase efficiency or collaboration.
Closely collaborate with product or business teams that require finance support on new product developments.
Close collaboration with other finance teams on department wide projects and change management.
Provide cross-functional leadership across the Americas teams by collaborating with Sales, Marketing, People. Product, Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams.
Develop and improve policies, benefits, and systems to scale our fast growing team across the Americas.
Responsibilities of the role will develop and evolve over time.
What you bring:
10+ years of finance experience; Big Four experience is advantageous.
Master's degree in accounting, business, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
Strong technical understanding of financial services, fintech businesses, and regulatory environments.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of two.
Extensive experience in a financial controlling role and proven track record of building and expanding these capabilities within an organisation.
Strong knowledge on local accounting standards and ability to apply them in practice.
Proven experience in managing complex local or international projects focused on process improvement initiatives.
Confident, creative, and innovative thought leadership and communication skills to deliver impact in a hyper growth environment; ability to interact with all levels within the organization
Experience working independently and navigating ambiguity
Experience in ANZ Tax compliance and structures is preferred
