Take the next step in your Transurban journey.

Here's an opportunity to grow your skills and shape your path at Transurban. We're building a culture where you can apply your strengths and develop the skills you need for tomorrow.

About the Opportunity

As a DevSecOps Engineer, you'll play a key role in embedding security into the software development lifecycle and helping teams deliver secure, resilient technology solutions at scale.

You'll join an innovative team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and shared success. Together, you'll partner across engineering, architecture, and technology teams to strengthen security capabilities, leverage emerging technologies including AI-driven solutions, and enable innovation through secure and efficient delivery.

As our DevSecOps Engineer, you'll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It is complex, meaningful, and exciting work so that our customers experience faster, safer, and more reliable journeys.

How you'll make an impact (your day-to-day):

  • Drive secure development practices across technology teams, helping build security into products and services from the very beginning while keeping customer outcomes at the centre of decision-making.

  • Partner with engineers, architects, and delivery teams to identify risks early, apply critical thinking, and implement practical, scalable security solutions.

  • Enhance security automation, AI-enabled capabilities, and continuous validation processes, enabling teams to deliver software with confidence, speed, and efficiency.

  • Build strong relationships across the business, influencing and coaching others to improve security awareness, capability, and shared ownership of outcomes.

  • Help strengthen Transurban's application security posture by introducing guardrails, improving processes, and balancing security requirements with business and commercial priorities.

  • Contribute to the investigation and remediation of vulnerabilities, applying structured problem-solving to ensure technology platforms remain secure, reliable, and resilient.

  • Support the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative approaches that improve security outcomes, operational efficiency, and data-informed decision making.

  • Adapt to evolving technologies, business priorities, and customer needs while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and a drive to adapt. We value the transferable skills and experience you could bring, including:

  • Solving complex problems: Investigating technical challenges, applying critical thinking, identifying root causes, and delivering practical solutions in fast-paced environments.

  • Building trusted relationships: Working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, fostering strong partnerships, and influencing positive outcomes across teams.

  • Delivering together: Contributing effectively within cross-functional teams and embracing shared accountability to achieve outcomes.

  • Commercial and customer awareness: Understanding how technology decisions impact business performance, risk, and customer experiences.

  • Learning and adapting: Bringing experience from cloud, software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure, security, or related technology environments, with the ability to quickly master new tools, technologies, AI capabilities, and data-driven approaches.

Taking ownership of your career and development means exploring opportunities that stretch you. We aren't looking for a perfect checklist; we are looking for a strong foundation. If your experience aligns with some of the above and you bring a readiness to adapt, we want to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
