About the Role
BDO is seeking an Azure DevOps / Automation Engineer to accelerate secure, reliable and repeatable delivery across our cloud platforms and applications. Sitting within the Cloud Engineering team, this role focuses on CI/CD pipeline engineering, Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC), release automation and developer enablement—helping teams deliver at scale with confidence.
You’ll work closely with Platform, Network and SRE Engineers, Cloud Run teams and Service Lines to build reusable pipelines, automation frameworks and guardrails that uplift engineering maturity, reduce Shadow IT and embed DevSecOps practices into everyday delivery.
About the TeamThe Cloud Engineering team is part of BDO’s Shared Services Technology function and is responsible for building enterprise‑grade cloud platforms and delivery foundations. The team champions automation‑first thinking, strong governance and continuous improvement, enabling consistent, high‑quality outcomes across the firm.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions
Develop reusable IaC modules and pipeline templates using Bicep and/or Terraform
Standardise branching strategies, environments, approvals and release processes
Embed DevSecOps controls including policy‑as‑code, security scanning and secrets management
Enable containerised and cloud‑native delivery across Azure platforms
Integrate observability, health checks and automated rollbacks into deployment pipelines
Partner with SRE, Platform and Network Engineers to improve reliability and operability
Produce reference implementations, documentation and onboarding guides
Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
Strong hands‑on experience with IaC (Bicep/Terraform) and automation
Experience embedding DevSecOps and governance into delivery pipelines
Familiarity with Azure platforms, containerisation and observability tooling
Azure DevOps and cloud certifications (AZ‑400, AZ‑104) desirable
Strong communication skills and a passion for automation, quality and continuous improvement
