About the role  
  

We're seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead and guide our Data Engineering Team in designing, developing and operating Transurban's enterprise data platform. 

You'll join an innovative team who work collaboratively with data consumers and business SMEs to deliver new data pipelines via Scrum/Agile frameworks. 

As our Data Engineering Manager, you'll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It's meaningful, challenging and exciting work. 

Day-to-day, you will:  

•  Lead and manage the Data Engineering team, coordinating work priorities and resolving scheduling and resourcing challenges 

• Design, implement and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines to support business analytics and decision-making 

• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, best practice adoption, and implementation of automation and CI/CD processes 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and ensure platform performance meets expectations 

• Provide people leadership including performance management, coaching, and fostering team development and wellbeing 

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:   

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline with extensive knowledge of data structures 

• Proven people leadership skills with the ability to guide teams through change and foster high-performing, collaborative environments 

• Strong technical expertise in SQL optimisation, large complex data systems, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) 

• Excellent communication skills to effectively translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

• Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities, time management skills, and experience in Agile/Scrum environments
