The role
As a Data Enablement Lead within our Data Engineering department, you will act as a strategic advisor and connector between our core engineering capabilities and our outward-facing analytics business units. Instead of focusing on standard production analytics, your remit centres on shaping crucial platform decisions, such as accelerating data pipeline creation or the choice of visualisation tools. By partnering directly with power users within the Go-to-Market analytics domain, you will help teams unlock genuine value from our data environment, XADE, ensuring that trusted dashboards and intelligent agents are embedded directly into daily workflows.
Your impact will be felt across Xero as you build deep relationships with key points of contact and help elevate overall data literacy. You will translate the real-world goals, workflows, and friction points of the analytics community into clear, actionable technical problems and outcomes that directly guide our platform investments. By championing self-service data patterns and scalable practices, you will establish yourself as a trusted advisor, enabling teams to navigate data confidently and reach high-quality answers faster.
The team
Our Product and Data Enablement team consists of product managers and data enablement leads spread across Australia and New Zealand who work together to foster capability, confidence, and exceptional data practices. We act as a collaborative bridge, partnering closely with functional analytics teams to understand user needs and friction points in the data space. Together, we translate these insights directly to our product and engineering teams, managing priorities to ensure our platform foundations are grounded in real-world utility.
Initially, you will focus on
Utilising an enterprise analytics environment featuring Snowflake, dbt, GitHub, and SQL, alongside visualisation platforms like Tableau.
Partnering deeply with the Go-to-Market analytics team to map friction points and accelerate automated data workflows.
Integrating tool stacks and embedding self-service patterns and intelligent agentic solutions directly into user workflows.
Translating real analytics community needs into structured outcomes to guide future Data Engineering platform investments.
Where and how you can work
This role offers location flexibility across Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, or Melbourne, with Melbourne providing excellent stakeholder synergy. Xero supports a modern hybrid working model that blends remote productivity with meaningful in-office collaboration. You will enjoy connecting with your colleagues during designated collaborative team boost days in our office spaces, with expectations tailored to balance flexibility and team connection.
Here are some of the things we are looking for
You bring a solid background in data alongside hands-on experience developing analytical data products within large, complex environments.
Proven capability in bridging technical and non-technical worlds allows you to manage stakeholder relationships and align diverse perspectives seamlessly.
Technical familiarity with enterprise analytics platforms like Tableau, database technologies like Snowflake, and tools such as dbt and GitHub will be highly valued.
A customer-centric mindset and a natural curiosity guide your approach to framing problems and breaking down complex challenges into actionable outcomes.
Exposure to concepts like semantic layers, data governance, self-service environments, or emerging agent-enabled workflows will set you apart.
An inherent comfort with ambiguity ensures you can learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and guide others through evolving landscapes.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
