Job Description

As a Data Centre Sales Engineer, you play a pivotal role in supporting our Sales team by engaging directly with key customers, understanding their challenges and helping to design solutions using NEXTDC's colocation, connectivity and supporting services. Your technical expertise will facilitate high-quality customer engagement including workshops, presentations, tours and proposals. As a technical expert, customers see you as a key stakeholder in their colocation, connectivity and mission critical services strategic planning. 

You are comfortable working with technology and business stakeholders one day and presenting to an Executive Committee the next. You have a solid understanding of each customer’s technology footprint and strategic growth plans and be able to recommend ideal solutions to technology needs by maintaining industry knowledge and covering trends including high density compute, AI, Cloud computing and data centre connectivity. 

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in data centre operations and solution selling IT infrastructure with a proven track record exceeding sales targets in a complex selling environment 
  • Expertise in data centre design principles, connectivity solutions, and data centre design principles with industry knowledge and an understanding of the competitive landscape 
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers and service providers for customer solutions 
  • Understanding of Cloud computing and AI technologies and the underlying infrastructure requirements to support these solutions 
  • Exceptional report writing, presentation skills, and the ability to convey technical information as part of a solution effectively 
  • Drive and passion to ensure that NEXTDC is forefront in prospective customers’ minds 
  • Experience working with and presenting to C-level executives 
  • Experience with large complex commercial and legal negotiations working a variety of stakeholders including procurement, legal, engineers, technical leads and business teams 
  • Generally requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field 
  • NV1 clearance is beneficial but not mandatory.
