What is the role 

Full time, Monday–Friday, with hybrid options available.

This role is open for candidates based in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, and Brisbane.

The Solutions Specialist, Cybersecurity is responsible for the continuity of New Era’s Cyber Security services and solutions. It provides escalation support, solution design and operational oversight, and senior technical expertise for project delivery.

The role works closely with the Solutions and Service Delivery teams to meet SLAs, maintain service standards, and act as the regional Cyber Security champion, driving awareness, guidance, and compliance.

Other key responsibilities include but may not be limited to following:

  • Act as the Cyber Security champion, driving awareness, monitoring, and training.
  • Design, review, and support secure solutions in collaboration with Solutions Group, Pre Sales and engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 27001, Essential Eight, CIS, NIST) and support audits and certifications.
  • Lead security incident response, threat hunting, vulnerability assessments, and root cause analysis to meet SLAs.
  • Serve as senior technical escalation for design, operations, projects, and APAC/client support, including after-hours as required.
  • Provide mentorship to engineers and contribute to pre-sales, client security strategy, and risk assessment.
  • Develop and maintain technical designs, procedures, documentation, and drive automation and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong technical currency, manage logging and incident tasks, and accurately track daily activities.

Who we are looking for 

Successful candidate must possess:

  • 5+ years’ enterprise cyber security experience
  • Must have at least one major cloud security certification (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Cyber Security certification desirable e.g. CISM, CRISC
  • Must have experience with Australian government frameworks like Essential 8 and other cyber security frameworks (SMB1001, NIST etc.)
  • Experience with leading vendors (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Microsoft)
  • Exposure to solutions architecture and pre‑sales activities is desirable
  • Experience working in a Cyber Security team with strong networking and hands‑on infrastructure support, including installs and remote troubleshooting
  • Experience with Cisco IOS/FortiOS firewalls, routing, and VPNs, plus Microsoft & Linux OS, Office 365, Azure AD, and Active Directory
  • Experience supporting VMware/Hyper‑V environments, backup solutions (e.g. Veeam), and Bash or PowerShell scripting
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, team‑oriented, client‑focused, and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to solve problems and think both logically and laterally
  • Strong willingness to learn and pass on knowledge
