About the Role
As a Corporate Migration Lawyer, you will work as part of a collaborative and high-performing legal team to deliver services across a broad range of employer-sponsored and related migration matters. You will not be required to communicate directly with clients but will be expected to manage files, complete drafting, and deliver services to internal quality standards under the supervision of the Senior Legal Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit visa applications and supporting documentation to the Department of Home Affairs, skills assessment and other relevant regulatory authorities
- Draft submissions and correspondence including GTEs, health waivers, character waivers and responses to Requests for More Information
- Conduct legal and policy research to support matter strategy and risk mitigation
- Use internal systems to monitor deadlines, visa expiry dates, and compliance events
- Maintain accurate records and case files to ensure matters are audit-ready
- Collaborate with team members to deliver timely and compliant outcomes in accordance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs)
- Escalate risks, delays, or client issues promptly and in line with internal policies
- Participate in internal knowledge sharing, policy updates and continuous improvement activities
- Contribute to a respectful, values-aligned workplace committed to fairness, integrity, and professionalism

BDO Migration Services is an incorporated legal practice specialising in all aspects of Australian immigration and nationality law for corporate and private clients. About You
This role is ideal for someone who is early in their legal career, but with a strong foundation in migration law and an interest in improving systems, delivery and outcomes for clients.
Combined with:
- Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a migration or administrative law role (can include PLT or paralegal experience)
- Sound understanding of Australian immigration law and policy, with a focus on employer-sponsored visa pathways
- Highly developed legal drafting and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and document control
- Experience working in high-volume environments
- The ability to work independently on delegated tasks and seek support where needed
- A growth mindset and willingness to learn from feedback and coaching
- Experience working with employer-sponsored visa subclasses (482, 186, 494) preferred
- Experience using Migration Manager or similar case management software (desirable)
- Exposure to a professional services or corporate legal environment (desirable)
