Corporate Communications Manager - APAC

We’re seeking an experienced Corporate Communications Manager to lead and build communications across APAC. This senior role shapes strategy, drives engagement, and delivers high‑impact internal and external communications in a complex, fast‑moving regional environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the VP of Communications and partnering closely with regional and local leaders, this newly created role strengthens corporate communications across APAC while supporting global communications for the Global Health & Medical Business Unit.

You’ll shape and deliver internal and external communication strategies aligned with global priorities - supporting transformation, regional growth, and employee engagement. Acting as the lead communications expert for APAC, you’ll influence how the organization shows up internally and externally, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and compelling.

This is a hands‑on, senior role where strategy meets execution. From building strong internal communications foundations and establishing an effective storytelling cadence, to delivering high‑quality PR and media engagement, your work will directly support business objectives and enhance organizational reputation across the region.

What You Will Do
  • Build and strengthen Essity’s communications capability across the APAC region, defining clear priorities, cadence, and measures of success.

  • Translate global and business unit strategies into relevant communication plans for APAC countries and clusters.

  • Own editorial planning and storytelling across internal and external audiences, aligned to global rhythms and messaging.

  • Create and publish internal communications including intranet content, newsletters, leadership messages, toolkits, videos, and change communications initiatives.

  • Support senior leaders with town halls, cascades, and management communications, ensuring clarity and consistency.

  • Plan and execute a focused, high‑quality external communications and PR agenda in APAC, aligned to global guidance.

  • Manage media enquiries and support crisis and issues communications, applying sound professional judgement and reputational awareness.

  • Produce and adapt content across owned, earned, and shared channels with a digital‑first mindset.

  • Partner with Marketing and country teams to develop communications and PR toolkits that can be locally adapted while maintaining global standards.

  • Track performance and use insights and analytics to continuously improve content effectiveness and engagement.

Who You Are

You’re an experienced corporate communications professional who combines strategic thinking with practical, hands‑on delivery. You’re comfortable operating independently, take ownership of outcomes, and work effectively in complex, fast‑moving environments.

You’ll also bring:

  • A degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 8 -10 years’ experience across internal and external communications, including PR and media relations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and contexts.

  • Strong hands‑on digital capability, including managing and optimizing content across intranets, newsletters, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and LinkedIn.

  • Content creation skills across video, design briefs, and end‑to‑end editorial UX.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365

  • The confidence and resilience to advise senior stakeholders and navigate ambiguity in a high‑accountability role.

  • Experience working in international, matrix organizations; exposure to APAC markets is highly regarded.

  • Confidence using analytics and insights to assess performance and continuously improve communications impact.

  • Fluent English and the ability to work effectively across time zones.

  • Based in Melbourne, with full, unrestricted working rights in Australia.

We welcome applications from communications professionals with experience across both communications disciplines (such as journalism, public relations, or agency) and complex industries including healthcare, medical, consumer goods, or similar environments.

Above all, we value strong professional judgement, clear communication, and confidence in owning and delivering end‑to‑end communications.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
