About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst with very strong API and integration experience to join our high-performing, agile teams. This is a hands-on, technically-focused BA role in a multinational environment, working with diverse clients, high-paced delivery, and modern engineering practices.
You will operate as the key bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, with a strong emphasis on API-driven solutions, integration design, and scalable, secure services. You’ll work closely with architects, developers, and testers to ensure that business and technical requirements are clearly defined, well-documented, and successfully delivered.

What you’ll do:
Requirements & Analysis
- Understand client business domains, existing processes, systems and integration landscapes.
- Lead requirements discovery and analysis for API and integration-focused projects.
- Elicit and document functional and non-functional requirements (including performance, security, resilience).
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for APIs, integrations and data flows.
- Create and maintain:
- Jira tickets / user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria.
- API and integration requirements, mapping documents and interface specifications.
- UML/sequence diagrams and integration design patterns.
- Mapping tables, data contracts and field-level mappings between consumers and providers.
- Environment and endpoint documentation, Postman collections, and related assets in Confluence.
API & Integration Focus
- Lead the analysis and design of REST and SOAP integrations, with a strong bias toward modern RESTful APIs.
- Design and maintain API contracts (Swagger/OpenAPI) and govern changes across consumers and providers.
- Work with teams using:
- Spring Boot and Java-based microservices
- Netflix OSS stack (Zuul, Ribbon, Eureka) or similar service discovery and gateway solutions.
- Help define API standards, best practices and reuse patterns across the platform.
- Contribute to API security, error handling, resilience, and observability requirements.
- Collaborate on messaging and streaming patterns (e.g. ActiveMQ, Kafka and similar event/queue-based systems).
- Support performance, load and integration testing (e.g. Rest Assured, Gatling, Hoverfly) by ensuring test scenarios align with business and technical requirements.
Delivery & Collaboration
- Work in an agile (Scrum/SaFe) environment and actively participate in:
- Backlog refinement, sprint planning, and reviews.
- 3 Amigos sessions (Developer, Tester, BA) to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Workshops and stakeholder sessions for requirements, design and prioritisation.
- Collaborate closely with:
- Technical Leads and Architects to ensure solution and integration architecture align with business needs.
- Developers to resolve specification queries and clarify integration behaviour.
- Test Analysts to ensure coverage of functional and non-functional requirements, and awareness of changes, issues, and risks.
- Provide effort estimates for change requests and larger pieces of work using a clear, traceable estimation approach.
- Contribute to and/or lead the production, review and signoff of:
- Requirements documentation.
- Functional and integration design documents.
- User guides and operational handover materials as needed.
- Ensure all required project reviews and checkpoints are completed to a high standard.
Technical & Conceptual Skills
You bring strong, hands-on experience and understanding across:
Toolkit / Tools
- Confluence & Jira.
- Swagger / OpenAPI (API contract design and maintenance).
- Postman, Rest Assured, SOAP UI for API and integration testing.
- Spring Boot, Java 11+/17+, Gradle (awareness of how services are built and deployed).
- Netflix Stack (Zuul, Ribbon, Eureka) or equivalent discovery/gateway components.
- Splunk or similar logging/observability tools.
- Git/Bitbucket, IntelliJ/Eclipse or similar IDEs.
- Additional testing and simulation tools (e.g. Gatling, Hoverfly) desirable.
Concepts
- REST APIs and modern API design principles.
- API security (authentication, authorisation, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, tokens).
- API best practices and APIs at scale (versioning, governance, rate limiting, backwards compatibility).
- Reusability and modular service design.
- Integration patterns and flows (sync/async, messaging, pub/sub, request–reply).
- Error handling and resilience patterns.
- Service discovery and microservices architecture.
- Containerisation and cloud concepts (deployment, environments, scalability).
- Distributed tracing, logging, monitoring and observability.
- CI/CD pipeline awareness and how it impacts requirements and releases.
- Agile and SAFe concepts and ceremonies.
- ITSM practices around change and release (awareness).
Professional Qualities
- 5+ years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst in agile teams, with a strong emphasis on APIs and integrations.
- Proven track record working closely with development and architecture teams on API-driven solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-team, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate between business and technical audiences.
- Deadline-driven, proactive, and able to own outcomes from discovery through to delivery.
- Collaborative, team-oriented, and confident facilitating workshops and discussions.
- Proficient in English.
