Job Description

The Opportunity: 

As a Claims Technical Specialist, you’ll provide expert technical guidance to Claims Consultants across Income Protection, Life, and TPD. Your focus will be improving assessment quality, supporting sound decision-making, and ensuring claims are managed in line with policy terms, delegated authorities, and TAL frameworks. 

You’ll play a key role in building technical capability across the team, driving consistent outcomes and best-practice claims management. 

In this role you will:  

  • Ensure claims are managed in line with TAL policies and industry best practice 
  • Act as the technical SME, reviewing and authorising complex and adverse claim decisions 
  • Coach Claims Consultants to improve assessment quality, communication and outcomes 
  • Support managers with fund reporting, case conferences and stakeholder engagement 
  • Contribute to claims procedures, governance and quality assurance 
  • Provide insights to support capability development and performance management 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • ESSENTIAL: Experience in Group life insurance claims in a technical specialist or senior claim’s role 
  • Proven ability to coach and uplift case manager capability 
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance legislation and claims frameworks 
  • Ability to identify issues and drive effective claims solutions 
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills 
  • Customer-focused approach with sound judgement 
  • Relevant qualifications or insurance certification (desirable)
