About the team
You will join the Chief Technology Office (CTO). CTO is the infrastructure backbone of the bank and supports all of our businesses to deliver for our customers.
The role our Chief Technology Office plays in the successful delivery of our new Technology strategy spans all areas: ensuring we can rapidly iterate our products and services to be best-in-market; ensuring our technology and customer data is well-protected from threats; and ensuring we’re available to allow customers to reliably access banking services.
More specifically you will be a part of the Cloud Acceleration team, which drives enterprise-wide cloud transformation by providing enhanced platform engineering and self-service generative AI capabilities, and ensure compliance and resilience across environments, positioning the organisation for scalable, secure, and AI-powered cloud-native application provisioning.
You will report to the General Manager, Cloud Acceleration.
Role Summary
We are looking for a visionary Chief Product Designer to lead the design strategy for our platform products. This role focuses on two core areas: an infrastructure provisioning platform and an AI driven application modernisation platform. The successful candidate will be a technologist with a deep understanding of platform engineering and user-centred design. This is a senior design leadership position responsible for shaping the user experience, interaction models and design systems that support our platform capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership
Define and evolve the design vision for platform products in alignment with business goals and technical capabilities
Lead the end-to-end design process including discovery, ideation, prototyping and delivery for both infrastructure and application platforms
- Platform Strategy
Collaborate with engineering, architecture and product teams to understand platform capabilities and constraints
Translate complex technical workflows into intuitive design systems and user experiences
- User-Centred Innovation
Champion the needs of users including application engineers, site reliability engineers and product teams
Conduct user research, usability testing and feedback loops to inform design decisions
- Design Systems and Standards
Establish and maintain scalable design systems that ensure consistency and accessibility across platform interfaces
Ensure all design outputs are technically feasible and aligns to group technology strategy
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with crew leads, crew tech leads, product owners, engineers and business stakeholders to co-create platform features and experiences
Advocate for design excellence and user empathy in technical and strategic conversations
Required Skills and Experience
Proven experience designing complex technical products, ideally in platform or infrastructure domains
Strong understanding of cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines and modern application architectures
Expertise in interaction design, systems thinking and information architecture
Ability to translate technical concepts into intuitive user experiences
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, especially when engaging with technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with developer platforms, engineering tooling or enterprise-grade infrastructure products
