The role

The role will be reporting to the Sales Manager. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the business development team with the option to work in the office or remotely. 

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining, growing, and leveraging relationships with both partners and business referral sources with accountability for a specific portfolio target.  

The key focus of the role will be to foster and maintain strong relationships, to motivate and train partners and achieve strong growth results within a portfolio.  The Business Development Manager will work closely with both other state-based BDMs to identify key opportunities and motivate them to partner and refer business. 

What you will be doing

  • Identify, contact, engage and partner with broker referrers within a defined portfolio  
  • Implement a strategic plan to engage partners to refer business and deliver portfolio sales volumes 
  • Engage partnerships to build market awareness and referral opportunities 
  • Ensure best practice sales and marketing execution is adhered to across the channel 
  • Present the Prospa value proposition to stimulate regular deal opportunities 
  • Identify and win new referral partnerships across multiple industries  
  • Work closely with road-based BDMs to identify, engage and build business referrals to achieve territory sales volumes and KPIs 
  • Grow partner referrals by articulating the ‘partner evolution’ and progressing mutually beneficial relationships   
  • Provide management with regular sales pipeline updates 
  • Drive and contribute to the wider team’s motivation and positive attitude  
  • Maintain accurate information in the company CRM system 

What you'll need to succeed

  • A strong drive to succeed, with high energy and resilience 
  • Positive attitude & mature mindset with strong communication skills 
  • Proven track record of making a high volume of outbound phone calls – consistently 
  • 2 years’ experience working within a channel sales role 
  • Proven capability to manage a portfolio of accounts to meet target 
  • Proven ability to identify, contact and partner with target referral market  
  • Experience with selling and supporting the finance broker market (would be very advantageous)  
  • Experience in managing and growing channel partnerships (exceptional training and engagement capability) 
  • Excellent relationship building skills with an engaging personality  
  • Ability to be recognised as a valued business supporter and partner  
  • Strong business acumen and a keen understanding of the key motivators for business owners within the SME marketplace
