- Advanced knowledge of aviation risk management strategies and frameworks.
- Experience working in high-tempo Defence aviation operations.

Key Organisational Accountabilities
- Risk management and assurance - Lead periodic and event-based Aviation Risk Management reviews, maintain safety objectives and key perform.ance indicators, analyse trends and systemic issues, and verify the effectiveness of controls through audits, inspections and corrective action tracking.
- Advice, reporting and stakeholder engagement - Provide evidence-based safety advice to Accountable Leaders on safety outcomes, compliance and residual risk. Prepare executive summaries, risk registers, decision papers and status reports, and engage with customers, internal stakeholders and external forums to communicate risks, mitigations, lessons learned and investigation outcomes.
- Implementation support and capability uplift - Help establish and sustain Aviation Operations (AVNOPS)-specific SMS training across the organisation, support safety governance forums, and contribute safety input to procurement, Statements of Work and assurance activities.
- Investigations, review boards and Just Culture - Support safety review boards and Just Culture reviews to ensure fair, consistent decision-making and alignment with SMS principles and organisational safety outcomes.
- SMS artefacts, processes and training - Develop, implement and continuously improve SMS documentation with a focus on AVNOPS, including policies, procedures, work instructions, checklists and form.s. Translate regulatory and operational requirements into practical, auditable tools for frontline and support staff, while managing role-based training, competency assessment and document change control.
