Role Profile
Associate Designer – Unispace, Melbourne (12-month FTC, Maternity Cover)
Are you a senior interior designer with a passion for creating innovative, functional, and inspiring workplace environments? Unispace Melbourne is looking for an Associate Designer to join our design team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
As an Associate Designer, you’ll lead corporate workplace design projects from concept to completion, collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams. You’ll bring creativity, technical expertise, and leadership to transform spaces that reflect each client’s unique vision.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Lead and refresh workplace environments for global clients, delivering high-quality, innovative designs.
- Collaborate with clients, business development, and construction teams to ensure project goals are met.
- Oversee projects from concept to completion, managing budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior designers to support career growth and team development.
- Coordinate with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape) for smooth project execution.
- Produce technical drawings, documentation, and material specifications with attention to detail.
- Conduct site visits, manage RFIs, and support construction administration.
- Contribute fresh ideas to enhance design standards and support inclusive, creative workplaces.
About You:
- 10–12+ years’ experience in interior design or architecture, with a focus on corporate interiors.
- Strong leadership skills: experience managing teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit; additional design software is a plus.
- Expertise in technical drawings, FF&E, detailing, and construction processes.
- Experience working with diverse clients across industries (law, finance, entertainment, marketing, etc.).
- Skilled in budget management, timelines, proposals, and client engagement.
- Knowledgeable about building codes, sustainability practices, and workplace trends.
- Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (AIA, NCIDQ, LEED certifications are a bonus).
