Profile Requirements:

• Doctoral Credentials: An earned doctoral degree is required. For the Assistant Professor level, advanced doctoral candidacy with 5+ years of professional design expertise will be considered.
• Design Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional design experience with a strong record of practice in one or more design disciplines.
• Teaching Experience: Substantial graduate-level teaching experience (5+ years preferred) in online modalities; demonstrated ability to mentor doctoral students through independent research.
• Accreditor Credential Standards: All candidates must hold recognized academic credentials meeting the requirements of our accrediting body; candidates without qualifying credentials cannot be considered regardless of professional experience.
• Research & Scholarship: Active engagement in design research and scholarship with an established or emerging teaching, research, and service agenda (Associate Professor level requires an established record).
• Industry Experience Preferred: Professional practice and applied industry experience in a design discipline is strongly preferred; candidates with demonstrated cross-disciplinary or emerging design research backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Core responsibilities:

• Dissertation Supervision: Serve as committee chair for Doctor of Design students, overseeing dissertation research, committee formation, and evaluation of all doctoral milestones across program lab areas including Caribbean Design History & Visual Culture, Computational & Algorithmically-Enabled Design, Design for Learning Experiences, and Design for Wellness.
• Graduate Instruction: Teach courses within the Master of Design and/or Doctor of Design programs, delivering rigorous, research-grounded instruction in online modalities.
• Curriculum Compliance: Monitor curricula to ensure ongoing alignment with institutional standards and accrediting body requirements; participate in course and curriculum evaluations and audits.
• Student Assessment: Evaluate all student submissions with substantive qualitative and quantitative feedback in a timely manner.
• Student Communication: Respond to all student emails and inquiries within 24 hours; conduct proactive and reactive outreach via email, phone, and video conferencing.
• Faculty Engagement: Contribute to program development, institutional research initiatives, and the broader scholarly community of the institution.
