Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Analyst – Employee Benefits to join our Payroll team. Reporting to the Manager – Governance, you will be the subject matter expert responsible for the administration, analysis, reconciliation and reporting of employee benefits and salary packaging arrangements.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in ensuring employee benefits are administered accurately, efficiently and compliantly across a complex organisation. Working closely with Payroll, Finance, Tax, Reward, HR, IT and external providers, you will combine strong analytical capability with detailed knowledge of Australian payroll and employee benefits legislation.

This is not a payroll processing role. It is a specialist analyst position focused on employee benefits, payroll governance, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement.

About the role

You will:

  • Maintain key payroll controls and reconciliations, support audit requirements, and help ensure employee benefits are administered in line with legislative, tax and organisational requirements.
  • Administer salary sacrifice, novated leases, electric vehicle benefits, purchased leave and additional superannuation contributions.
  • Assess benefit arrangements and translate policies, enterprise agreements and provider requirements into payroll processes and system configuration.
  • Configure, test and maintain payroll deductions and provider interfaces.
  • Reconcile deductions to provider invoices, remittances and general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving variances.
  • Ensure benefits are correctly treated for PAYG, superannuation, FBT, payroll tax and STP requirements.
  • Produce reporting and analysis on benefit uptake, costs, liabilities and exceptions.
  • Provide advice on complex benefit queries and identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and employee communications.

About you

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in a complex Australian payroll environment.
  • Strong experience with employee benefits and salary packaging, including salary sacrifice, novated leases and purchased leave.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and taxation requirements, including PAYG, superannuation, FBT, payroll tax and STP Phase 2.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll systems, reporting and testing.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent practical experience. Payroll certification is desirable.
