What is your role, and what attracted you to Vantor? Describe the moment when you knew you’d found the right fit.

I’m a junior software engineer working for the U.S. government division of Maxar Intelligence. While completing my bachelor’s degree in computer science, I was on the hunt for summer internships and primarily looking for companies that work on government contracts. After attending an information session that Maxar hosted for my university and researching on my own, I became fascinated with Maxar’s satellite imaging capabilities and knew I wanted to be a part of the community that makes that innovation happen. 

I landed the internship that summer and received a return offer for my current role once I graduated. Accepting the offer to return was an easy choice — I knew this team would be a good fit for me since throughout my internship I felt like an important member of my team with a valued perspective even while still learning the ropes.

 

What’s your favorite part about working at Maxar Intelligence? 

One of my favorite parts about working at Maxar Intelligence is that I feel like I have a purpose and a hand in developing important and valuable solutions for our customers. At Maxar, all the work we do feels important, so it’s rewarding to know that I’m able to contribute to that. My team’s culture is a benefit of working here, too. Since day one, my knowledge and the perspective I bring to the table has been respected and valued, but I’ve also been encouraged to step outside of my comfort zone to learn new skills and get hands-on with various projects. I love being able to develop and broaden my skill set as I step into my career while being supported by my team.
