Build and maintain scalable Java backend services and serverless APIs on AWS. Develop REST and GraphQL APIs, deliver features from concept through production, tune database and service performance, debug issues, write automated tests, review code, and collaborate with product and frontend teams.

Staff Engineer responsible for shaping and implementing EatClub’s payments platform across Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. The role leads complex payment architecture, ledger, settlement, reconciliation, reliability, compliance, incident response, and partner integrations while remaining hands-on in production code. It requires deep card payments expertise, strong backend engineering, technical leadership, mentoring, and communication with executives, banks, acquirers, schemes, and auditors. This is an individual-contributor technical leadership role, not a people-management position.

Owns and improves EatClub’s end-to-end payment, billing, settlement, invoicing, collections, and reconciliation systems across Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. Responsibilities include integrating payment partners, improving payment reliability and observability, automating manual Finance processes, ensuring ledger accuracy, debugging production issues, testing financial logic, reviewing code, and mentoring engineers. The role partners closely with Finance and Support and requires strong backend engineering experience in production payments or billing systems.
