What You'll Bring:

  • TransUnion seeks a tax leader with at least 15 years of experience to include senior-level Tax executive roles within a complex and global company.  The successful candidate will have experience leading a global tax function and/or one of the major tax responsibilities within a global company with significant international operations.  Exposure to the services sector is preferred but not required.

  • Effective communication skills and executive presence are essential in order to effectively present complex tax issues to the executive leadership team and board of directors in a clear and succinct manner. Proven ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to leaders and stakeholders who are not tax leaders by training. As such, the ability to clearly articulate the potential impacts of various tax treatments to the business is a priority.

  • A global perspective gained through experience in leadership roles at global organizations.

  • An understanding of the performance drivers in a services-oriented firm, combined with the ability to analyze TransUnion and align the tax organization to support business objectives.

  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and executing an effective tax operations, compliance, and planning strategy.

  • Beyond identifying and capitalizing on strategic tax opportunities, a proven ability to weave the function’s various strategies into an actionable plan with clear timelines and metrics of success.

  • A track record of building, leading, developing, and motivating teams of professionals dispersed across multiple locations.

Impact You'll Make:

Providing Functional Leadership

  • Provide leadership, oversight and accountability over all company tax affairs globally

  • Collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including executive management, financial reporting, treasury, investor relations, legal and operating unit accounting personnel

  • Foster strong relationships between the global tax function and finance and relevant business teams that ensure alignment between business goals and tax strategy and compliance activities

  • Communicate complicated tax issues to corporate departments and locations in terms of the impact on business operations and financial reporting

  • Proactively reposition and develop the tax team, creating a positive environment whereby staff are challenged, motivated and groomed for advancement within the department

  • Ensure the appropriate staffing mix of centralized and regional and internal and out-sourced resources is in place to manage the global tax footprint of the organization and the compliance and accounting requirements of all relevant jurisdictions

  • Direct the activities of global tax department staff responsible for accounting for income taxes, technical research compliance, process improvement and internal controls

  • Developing and executing tax strategy in accordance with broader company strategy

  • Lead the development and implementation of appropriate tax planning initiatives and recommendations to place the company in the most effective tax posture globally

  • Provide active support in the company’s strategic decision-making to ensure that senior management’s future planning takes into account all relevant tax considerations

  • Maintain an understanding of the company’s global business developments, investments, activities and business strategies, and advise senior management on the various tax planning strategies to enhance shareholder value

  • Assess and understand the company’s financial orientation for tax risk, ensuring that tax strategies are in keeping with the overall financial plans and objectives for the organization

  • Develop tax-efficient cash repatriation and global funding strategies

Maintaining Internal and External Accounting & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and foreign tax laws, with appropriate emphasis on international tax planning and execution

  • Direct and monitor compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

  • Direct and monitor tax audit and controversy activities to defend the company’s tax positions

  • Maintain appropriate tax policies, procedures and controls worldwide to protect company assets and comply with tax laws

  • Manage all external relationships with tax advisors including tax counsel, external auditor, federal, state, local and other tax policy decision-makers and enforcement officials

  • Interface with outside independent auditors on matters of tax planning, provisioning and transactions

  • Oversee, interpret, and analyze federal, state, local, and foreign legislative changes

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Pay Scale Information :

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $193,500.00 - $406,500.00 *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations.

Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
