About the role

Based on the success of our Australian business, we’re hiring our second Underwriting Associate to support Coalition’s delivery of best-in-class service to brokers and policyholders in Australia. Candidates in this role will be accountable for providing the highest level of customer support and service to prospective and current customers (including insurance brokers quoting on our platform and our policyholders), facilitating the underwriting process while rapidly learning about our differentiated Active Cyber Insurance offering.

Ideal candidates for the role will have demonstrated experience effectively finding solutions to broker and customer needs in an intricate, rapidly growing business—from basic company and product education to administrative and transactional assistance. They will also aspire to progress their career in the insurance industry. Pair that with an incredibly positive attitude and a drive to help others, and you’re someone we’d love to speak with.

Responsibilities
  • Answering inbound questions and requests from insurance brokers and current policyholders via email, live chat, and (much less frequently) by phone.
  • Ensuring brokers and current customers receive the assistance they need from Coalition’s underwriting, business development, security, and claims teams.
  • Educating brokers on Coalition’s cyber insurance products, as well as how to use our online quoting platform (for brokers).
  • Performing administrative insurance functions to keep our growth engine running, including the entry of manual submissions, the provision of Certificates of Currency, and processing policy date changes.
  • Working with the rest of the Coalition team to implement organizational and product changes that mitigate customer pain points.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a customer support or customer service role and/or a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, especially in broker-facing roles or similar (e.g., channel sales).
  • Resourceful and enthusiastic, with a desire to operate in a start-up environment—if you’re looking for an opportunity to learn and expand your skill set, this is the place.
  • Experience with Zendesk is not required but is a plus.
  • Prior insurance experience is not required but is a plus.
  • An incredibly positive attitude—attitude overcomes all.
  • Aspiration to develop a career in the insurance industry.

Perks

  • 100% of your private health insurance premiums on the approved health plan cover* for you and your dependents at the Base Tier 0 Australian Government Rebate pricing
  • 20+ paid holidays

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
