We are urgently looking for a skilled and experienced UI/UX Designer to collaborate with one of our Australian clients on a 2-month contract. You will be responsible for designing intuitive, user-focused experiences and building high-fidelity interactive prototypes that closely simulate real application behaviour.

The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with Figma, a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with front-end development is a strong plus and will help bridge the gap between design and implementation. Candidates must be able to provide samples of previous UI/UX work, including interactive prototypes.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop a complete functioning one-page website and accompanying funnel as part of the project deliverables within the 2-month contract period. This includes end-to-end execution from concept and layout to responsive design, integration, and deployment.
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product owners and development teams.
  • Visualise the full flow of user experience and define the entire journey of a user story with prototypes, screen designs, wireframes, storyboards, etc.
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and mind maps for the application.
  • Work with the full-stack developer, providing them with all necessary assets, styling, and source files to build the UI.
  • Design user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes using Figma.
  • Create pixel-perfect, responsive designs for web and mobile platforms.
  • Deliver design assets, components, and specifications for development handoff.
  • Present designs to internal and client stakeholders, incorporating feedback through iterative updates.
  • Maintain and evolve a consistent design system and component library.
  • Identify usability issues and propose intuitive design solutions.
Must-Have Requirements:
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Advanced experience with Figma, including auto-layouts, components, variants, and interactive prototyping.
  • Strong understanding of user experience and customer/industrial psychology.
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in UI/UX design for complex web or mobile applications.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience using Bootstrap CSS and material design frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and usability best practices.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating design processes, interactive prototypes, and delivered products.
  • Have a brand-oriented and user-centric approach to ensure all designs align with the company’s visual identity while prioritising optimal user experience.
  • Must be able to provide samples of previous work, especially showcasing real-world interaction through prototypes.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Experience with low-code/no-code platforms such as Webflow or Elementor.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools like Miro, InVision, Jira, or

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
