About the Project

The Southern Program Alliance is contracted by Victorian Government to remove most dangerous and congested level crossings. This is a critical infrastructure project with significant public impact. Work on a high-profile infrastructure project as part of a global team, using continuous improvement methodology and innovative technology which enable us to leave a genuine legacy.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project or Construction Manager, the Traffic Manager is responsible to safely deliver traffic management planning and implementation over the life of the project.   You will coordinate with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to align traffic staging with the construction face to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project on schedule, within budget and to the specified quality.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop traffic management strategies and plans utilising best practices
  • Manage budgets and forecasting to deliver the works on or under budget
  • Attend daily coordination sessions with the construction team and book appropriate traffic controllers 
  • Ensure traffic controllers are safely directing road users at all times and implementing best practices at all times including the proactive adoption of technology (eg boom gates).
  • Continuous improvement in the delivery of traffic management 
  • Develops, guides and monitors implementation of suitable traffic construction methods including audits.
  • Identify what Authorities are appropriate in obtaining approvals with specific project work 
  • Designs traffic simulation programs and feed data related to traffic flow, accident rate data, and proposed changes to develop most efficient methods to ease traffic flow.
     

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering) or similar
  • Hold appropriate traffic management accreditation/qualifications
  • 10+ years’ demonstrated experience in a construction/engineering environment
  • Ability to obtain Rail Industry Workers accreditation
