About the Role 💭
 
As our Test Engineer at Quad Lock, you'll join our Test & Validation team and collaborate closely with Design and Manufacturing to develop and execute test plans that validate products before they go to market. This is a hands-on role. You'll need a strong foundational knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, and a genuine curiosity for how things work and where they might fail.
 
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract role, suited to a mechanically minded, hands-on engineer who takes a practical approach to problem solving.

What You'll Do ⚙️

  • Collaborate with product designers and manufacturing engineers to develop requirements for new products.
  • Develop product-specific tests to validate the design of new products, ensuring they meet the
    requirements.
  • Design and physically build testing jigs and fixtures required for execution of testing.
  • Perform mechanical and electronic testing using laboratory and workshop test equipment.
  • Utilise industrial data acquisition systems for measurement and recording of test data.
  • Process and understand gathered data to generate results for further analysis.
  • Assess test results against initial criteria and consider implications of unexpected outcomes.
  • Present test results, conclusions and outcomes to the broader Engineering and Design teams.
  • Work flexibly within the Test & Validation team to manage multiple competing projects/priorities.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the laboratory and workshop areas.

What You'll Bring 🤝

  • Proven experience in a testing/mechanical/manufacturing engineering role.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD modelling for design of test rigs (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical / Electronic).
  • Strong initiative, inquisitive nature and can-do attitude.
  • Experience with industrial control and instrumentation (DAQ / PLC etc.), preferred.
  • Experience with commercial, automotive or defence industry testing standards, preferred.
  • Experience with workshop tooling and equipment (mill, lathe, power tools), preferred.
