Job DescriptionAs a Team Manager in Claims, you’ll lead a team of consultants to deliver best practice claims management and outstanding customer service. You’ll coach and support your team to drive performance, manage KPIs and workflow, and contribute to process improvements and projects with broader business impact. Whether you’re an experienced Team Manager or a Senior Claims Consultant ready to step into leadership, we’re looking for someone who is confident, independent, and empowered to make sound decisions.
In this role you will:
- Lead and support a team of 8 Claims Consultants (IP and Death claims), focusing on performance, development, and wellbeing.
- Empower team members through development plans, training, and support for career progression.
- Oversee portfolio performance, ensuring claims are assessed accurately and meet KPIs and SLAs.
- Act as the key contact for AusSuper, providing regular updates and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.
- Drive process improvements and contribute to broader claims initiatives.
- Support complex and long-term claims with technical guidance and oversight.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in life insurance claims, with exposure to Income Protection (IP) and Lump Sum (Death, TPD, Terminal Illness) claims.
- Proven people leadership experience managing a claims team across the life insurance industry OR a strong desire to step into a leadership role (e.g., Senior Claims Consultant ready to transition).
- Capability to coach, mentor, and develop individuals and drive performance within a team environment.
- Comfortable working with data, KPIs, and SLAs to monitor and drive team output.
- Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end claims processes and ability to interpret medical and policy information.
- Confident in building relationships and managing external stakeholders.
