Dataminr’s Domain Experts work with Dataminr’s AI platform in real time ensuring the alerts and intelligence we send to our clients are of the best possible quality. Domain Experts use deep human expertise to examine and analyze our data feeds and annotate, label, and edit signals in real time. You will be an integral part of our algorithm training process and our advanced realtime human-AI feedback loop that integrates key knowledge domains into our AI models and develops our AI platform. As a Domain Expert, you will also play a key role in defining new factors to improve our alerts, data source coverage, machine learning, AI models, and AI tooling.
This role is open as hybrid or remote (Australia), and requires the ability to work core hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm AEST or 10:00am - 6:00pm AEDT in a real-time information environment. Please note that this role requires rotational weekend work as well as projects and meetings outside of business hours.

The opportunity

• Serve as an expert on the Middle East and North Africa, related geopolitical developments, and the relevant data sources associated with the region to improve our AI models
• Monitor and analyze the quality of our data feeds 
• Own and develop projects to improve performance of AI models and AI tooling in the real time event detection space
• Lead strategic initiatives across teams, addressing critical opportunities or issues
• Make real-time decisions with incomplete data
• Work with multiple stakeholders across all offices to support region-specific training
• Collaborate on and communicate about daily priorities in a team-centric environment

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree required, ideally with a concentration in: Journalism, Political Science, Middle Eastern Studies, security/conflict studies, or a closely related field
• Demonstrable professional experience utilising deep expertise in relation to the region, with experience working in a real-time information environment - including breaking news desks, wire services, and GSOCs - preferred
• Interpret and succinctly describe ongoing, complex events with incomplete data in a fast-paced environment in Arabic and English; Farsi, Hebrew, or Turkish languages a plus
• Fluency with AI tools and LLMs, and experience using them to solve problems, improve workflows, and make efficiencies 
• Adaptable, innovative and able to juggle multiple competing priorities in evolving scenarios
• Passion for breaking news, current world events, technology, and a great understanding of both social media and publicly-available data
• Enthusiastic approach to innovation and strategic thinking
