Empower is looking for a Finance and Strategy Manager, International Expansion to lead our international growth efforts. In this role, you will design our strategic framework for new market entry, leading market research, business planning, and analytics workstreams to determine where and how we should expand into new geographies. You will collaborate cross-functionally with senior executives to develop and share recommendations to our board and critical stakeholders. After creating the strategy, you will then lead the execution of those recommendations, including M&A & on-the-ground integration and business planning. If you’re excited by the idea of leading international growth end-to-end for a high-growth startup expanding access to fair credit, this could be the role for you.

This is a remote role with a preference for individuals in an Asia Pacific time zone (GMT +5-11). Occasional travel will be required for company onsites and market visits (minimum 4-6 times per year).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Set strategic priorities: Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and data analyses to create our evaluation framework to evaluate new markets

Conduct target scans for potential acquisition opportunities

Lead in-depth due diligence processes for M&A targets, including owning evaluations of financials, operations, talent, and legal risks

Build forecast models to guide decision-making, collaborating across credit, product, and marketing teams to refine assumptions

Represent Empower with senior external counterparties (e.g., regulators, investors)

Help drive market entry strategy: Leverage customer & credit data to inform product positioning and optimize our scaling efforts. Lead complex analyses on our products, develop case studies, and design experiments to improve performance.

Establish on-ground presence, relationships, and operations in new markets

Develop data-driven frameworks and monitor key KPIs for new markets

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 4+ years of work experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate development.

Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and logical structuring abilities

A get-it-done mindset; you’re resourceful and happy to be hands-on and in the weeds

Strong analytical abilities and are comfortable defining and measuring goals consistently

Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to independently layout and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction

Strong financial modeling experience and ability to create data-driven decision making frameworks

M&A experience is a plus
