They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. The Role
Block is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our Procurement team, with a focus on Marketing. This role is based in Australia (remote, hybrid, in office.... you decide) and offers the chance to shape sourcing strategies that drive impact across APAC.
We're seeking someone who thrives in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment and is motivated by building strong partnerships. If you're passionate about sourcing excellence, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to influence how a global company works with its suppliers, we'd love to meet you.
You Will
  • Lead insourcing and outsourcing initiatives, run RFX processes, and drive contract negotiations that support our APAC procurement strategy.
  • Own sourcing and supplier management for large category groups and multiple sub-categories, serving as both a leader and a key contributor.
  • Partner with procurement and cross-functional leaders to design and implement category strategies that align with Block's goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance on sourcing, contract negotiation, buying, and risk management to support leadership planning.
  • Manage complex supplier relationships across Block, anticipating future needs and developing solutions that create long-term value.
  • Build cross-functional consensus and lead strategic supplier relationship reviews (QBRs) to ensure service quality and performance.
  • Champion collaboration and teamwork, contributing to the success and growth of your teammates.
  • Develop selection criteria, set purchasing goals, coordinate resources, and provide category leadership in line with long-term business objectives.
  • Live and model Block's values in every interaction.
  • Support business partners across APAC, including Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

You Have
  • 7+ years of procurement and/or strategic sourcing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience in marketing procurement or sourcing, with strong knowledge of marketing vendors, strategies, and industry trends.
  • Hands-on expertise with Source-to-Contract and Procure-to-Pay practices.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills, with a track record of fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and adapt quickly.
  • Familiarity with procurement and sourcing tools such as SCOUT, COUPA, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement, curiosity, and openness to diverse perspectives.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
