Build your career and Australia’s future.

Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.

We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as the Stakeholder Engagement Lead, reporting to the General Manager.

A bit about your role

Stakeholder engagement continues to be a critical enabler of nbn’s ability to deliver its strategic, operational and regulatory commitments.

The Stakeholder Engagement team sits within Corporate Affairs, helping to strengthen trust, collaboration and reputation with key external stakeholders across industry, community and emergency services.

The Stakeholder Engagement Lead will grow and maintain exceptional relationships both internally and externally with stakeholders across four workstreams:

  • Enterprise Engagement - engagement strategy & capability, coordination and support for regulatory engagement.
  • Engagement delivery across the fibre upgrades and technology migration programs.
  • Emergency engagement – strengthening community resilience and preparedness.
  • Digital Inclusion – supporting connectivity literacy, connections in social housing and projects to support social impact.

The Stakeholder Engagement Lead strengthens and supports high‑quality engagement across a wide range of projects in these workstreams while also supporting nbn’s three-year regulatory cycle.

This role offers meaningful exposure to complex, high ‑impact work and the opportunity to influence how nbn strategically engages and partners with stakeholders and communities.

A bit about you

The ideal candidate brings five years professional engagement experience and should be able to demonstrate the design (strategic planning) and delivery of engagement activities with external stakeholders across government, industry and community groups.

The candidate should be familiar with the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation and ideally have a Certificate of Engagement.

The candidate must be prepared to work as a State Emergency Management Liaison Officer (Victoria or Queensland) and act as the interface between Corporate Affairs and the state emergency management agencies.  Experience in emergency management liaison, incident response, and an understanding of stakeholder, government and engagement practices are also key to success in the role.

Ideally the candidate will have some experience working within a regulated authority.

Strong communication, influencing and relationship‑building skills are essential, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate work effectively.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
