As a Staff Software engineer, you will be part of a squad within the Payments Channel and Reporting crew building a new banking experience. You will be working with engineers on uplifting business capabilities and modernising our tech stack. We offer regular opportunities to work on some of the finest IT systems in Australia serving millions of customers, as well as opportunity to develop careers across different functions and teams within the wider Bank. 

You'll be hands-on coding and be responsible for shaping the evolution of this system by designing and developing micro services, data access layers, REST API(s), and writing integration services for third-party API consumption, manage risk with safe deployments and automated testing, as well as learning more about back-end engineering. You'll also be invited to join our regular engineering guilds and provide technical guidance to the junior members of the team.

  • Solution Design – Lead the design and architecture by working closely with domain architects, SMEs, Product managers and Engineers.

Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:

  • Backend: .Net Framework, .Net Core, C# or Node.js / NestJS, JavaScript / Typescript , REST APIs, microservices architecture - Knowing Java is a bonus
  • Frontend: React  / NextJs (preferred) and or similar frameworks with Redux, Redux toolkit, testing-library.
  • Database Programming: Strong Database Expertise in SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Aurora) and NoSQL design/programming, ORM (entity Framework) experience
  • Development and Version control Tools: GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Agile methodologies
  • CI/CD: TeamCity, Urban Code Deploy, GitHub Actions.
  • Event Driven Architecture : Kafka, Message Queues, and Event streaming platform experience..
  • Cloud and DevOps Technologies: AWS - Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, Serverless, Step Functions, and EKS / Kubernetes, ECS, Infrastructure as Code experience
  • Security tools and Knowledge: Experience in Tools like Snyk, Sonarqube, Hashicorp Vault, Artifactory, SysDig, Certificate management, vulnerability assessment, Secrets management
  • Monitoring: Splunk/Observe, Grafana, Prometheus, AppDynamics
  • AI : Experience working on AI tools like Roo, Claude, Github Copilot, MCP setup etc.
