You’ll be part of the Humblebees Squad within the Open Data & Identity Crew, a team driving innovation and ensuring compliance in Australia’s Open Banking ecosystem. As the country’s largest holder of Open Banking data, we enable secure data sharing and consent management for millions of customers. Our mission is to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure platforms that uphold regulatory compliance and foster customer trust by:

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and delivering cloud-native, scalable, secure, high availability and high-performance solutions on AWS, leveraging your full-stack expertise in Next.js/ReactJS and .NET Core. This role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical acumen, capable of guiding engineering teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade platforms. Be at the forefront of innovation by delivering impactful solutions for Open banking. You'll play a key role in our digital transformation, driving the uplift of our consent creation and management user journey —shaping the future of how we serve customers

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Possesses full-cycle engineering experience: ideation, technical design, build, testing (unit, integration, system), release, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Collaborates with peers and helps grow capabilities within the squad and across the crew.

  • Actively embraces and leverages AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Figma AI, and others to accelerate delivery and improve code quality is highly desirable.

  • Provides technical governance and guidance throughout the complete solution delivery lifecycle.

  • Have the ability to work independently and drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed.

  • Are passionate about learning new tools and technologies and are constantly thinking outside the box.

  • Designs, documents and implements solutions to distribute source system data via bulk interfaces.

  • Contributes to complex delivery planning by providing guidance and oversight to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned with engineering direction and strategy.

  • Have ability to constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders at various levels.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Full cycle design experience: design, build, challenge and run essential.

  • Full Stack Development: Strong expertise in React.js/Next.js, and .NET Core/C# with experience designing scalable microservices and APIs (GraphQL & REST).

  • Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, TeamCity, and Jenkins.

  • Database & API Design: Proficient in PostgreSQL, Oracle, and modern data access patterns.

  • Monitoring & Observability: Familiar with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and AWS CloudWatch.

  • AI Technologies: Hands-on experience with coding agents and automation is highly desirable. A strong technical mindset and willingness to adopt AI in daily workflows is equally valued.

  • Secure Engineering & DevSecOps: Deep understanding of security principles, DevSecOps, and SRE practices.

  • Agile Delivery & Testing: Proven experience with TDD/BDD, automated testing, service virtualization, and cloud-native application development.

  • Understanding of hardware-software integration concepts is highly valued, especially in uplifting and enhancing existing system functionality.
