A fast-growing team, focused on streamlining existing job posting experience and integrating AI technology to revolutionise job ad creation. We build the software that empowers SEEK customers to seamlessly publish job advertisements across the SEEK marketplace. Every day, over 20,000 job opportunities flow through our platform — each representing potential life-changing career moves for candidates worldwide. Our team serves as the vital connective tissue at SEEK's core, collaborating across both employer and candidate domains to deliver the best outcomes for our customers.

The Role
As a Staff Engineer, you'll serve as a key technology leader who shapes our future vision while ensuring our solutions are meeting our business and technical needs across SEEK’s Asia-Pacific markets.
We're looking for expertise in React, TypeScript, GraphQL and Node.js, with AI/GenAI experience being highly valuable. You should demonstrate a proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and translate technical innovation into tangible business outcomes.
You'll collaborate with a diverse cross-functional team spanning Asia Pacific, including product managers, designers, data analysts, and fellow engineers from Melbourne, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur to deliver solutions that make a real impact for employers and candidates alike.
As a Staff Engineer at SEEK, you will:
- Lead the development of highly scalable and performant software using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Node.js, with a focus on AI/GenAI integration
- Drive technical excellence by improving platform health, observability, and coding practices across SEEK's Asia and Pacific markets
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business strategies
- Engage with diverse stakeholders to translate technical innovation into tangible business outcomes
- Support engineering management in capacity planning, risk assessment, and technical prioritisation
- Serve as a SEEK engineering ambassador, contributing to talent attraction and retention efforts
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and collaborative leadership to this role, with:
- Extensive experience in cloud-first services, event-driven architecture, and functional programming
- Proficiency in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and front-end technologies (e.g. ReactJS), including various rendering strategies
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript and familiarity with AWS native services
- Proven technical leadership capabilities within high-performing engineering teams
- Deep technical expertise combined with excellent problem-solving and design acumen
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences effectively
