Job Description
Join our Engineering Platforms team within Marketplace Services as a Staff Engineer – Online Identity Services. In this critical role, you’ll work alongside a highly skilled and technical team to design and deliver cutting-edge authentication solutions, ensuring seamless and secure experiences for our users.
As the most senior team member, you’ll lead projects such as single sign-on integration and the evolution of our Online Identity Services (OIS) into a scalable Identity Platform used across the organisation. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring peers, influencing stakeholders, and collaborating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
This team, like most of our teams in Marketplace Services is evolving from being a purely backend experience API Team into a platform team, with its own set of customers and products that it offers to the wider business.
Longer term the focus will be:
- Extracting ourselves from being a purely backend experience team, and moving towards a platform team - offering the right set of products to SEEKs internal engineering workforce to enable them to do their jobs more efficiently
- Bringing disparate authentication providers across SEEK together to enable a single source of truth
- Continuing to uplift our security practices around authentication across SEEK
Key Responsibilities

Lead technical initiatives, including single sign-on integration and uplifting OIS into a broader Identity Platform.

Oversee authentication services, including login systems and the integration of Auth0.

Engage with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.

Act as a technical leader within the team, providing mentorship and guidance on best practices.

Uplift the technical capability from within the team

About the Team:
The Online Identity Services team is one half of our Online Identity ecosystem, with the other half being Online Identity Experience.These teams look after out Identity, authentication and soon to be authorisation requirements across the SEEK Ecosystem.The Services team focus on our internal customers here at SEEK - Developers, Customer Service, Trust and Safety, Product, etc while the Experience team focus on our candidates and hirers directly.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in identity management and authentication systems.
- Proven technical leadership capabilities within high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript and familiarity with AWS native services (e.g., SQS).
- Deep technical expertise combined with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Strong design acumen with the ability to influence architecture and strategy.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical (70%) and non-technical (30%) audiences effectively.
