THE ROLE
As a Staff Engineer, DevOps at Shippit, you will will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure platform, working alongside other senior DevOps profesionals and the broader Engineering team to deliver a world class product to our customers.
As part of the Engineering team you will have a direct impact on our customers, by improving the platform reliability and up-time and enabling our cross-functional teams to deliver new features faster, and more securely.
DAY TO DAY
- Collaborate and support product teams by building a platform or solutions that help the success of the product
- Design and implement infrastructure as code
- Share and learn infrastructure and other knowledge with product teams
- Design and implement build tools, services and ways to enhance the developer experience
- Monitor and collect appropriate information to help us understand our infrastructure, applications and overall health of the business
- Understand and help create appropriate SLO/SLA for product teams with the 4 key metrics ideas in mind
- Design and implement Cloud solution that focuses on availability, security, reliability and performance
- Production support, root cause analysis and post-mortem
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Infrastructure as code testing tools.
- Experience with Container and container orchestration such as Kubernetes and EKS.
- Experience with Cloud Computing Platform like AWS.
- Experience or understanding in cloud-native architecture and concepts like availability, security, reliability and cost.
- Knowledge of what great CI/CD looks like.
- Knowledge of what good logging and monitoring looks like.
- Programming and TDD experience, in a scripting language like Python, Go, Ruby etc.
- Comfort in practicing XP disciplines daily.
- Experience using DSCM like Git.
- Skills in production support.
- Open to new ideas and not scared to experiment with new concepts.
