What you’ll do

As a Solution Designer in Technology Architecture Practice at Accenture, you will be joining a team of passionate and experienced architects and designers. You will be responsible for designing application building blocks and IT solutions that address business needs with performance, resilience, and scalability. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about architecture and is eager to grow into a Solution Architect role.

Key responsibilities

As a representative of Accenture, our Fortune-100 clients appreciate your desire to co-create fit-for-purpose solutions with their own IT specialists and designers, leveraging modern and emerging trends in the industry to add business value and improve IT operational maturity. Therefore, the high-level responsibilities of the solution designer include:

  • Collaborating with technical leads, product owners, and architects to co-create detailed design documentation that meet functional and non-functional requirements and fit within the client’s overall technology strategy
  • Collaborating with developers and testers to ensure solution designs understood and prepped for delivery, with a willingness to oversee and quality-assure code development as necessary
  • Working closely with IT security to enable privacy by design and ensure alignment with client security practices
  • Communicating design status, blockers, and opportunities to your lead
  • Development of proof-of-concept (POC) prototypes to validate solution approaches, prepare Point of Views to assess technical feasibility, and support architectural decision-making across application and integration layers (optional)

Here's what you need

  • 5+ years of combined experience as a Full-Stack Developer building business applications across the full software development lifecycle, with at least 2 of those years spent contributing to solution design, technical planning, or architecture decisions — whether through a dedicated role, a hybrid position, or by naturally stepping into design responsibilities alongside your development work
  • Hands-on experience across Frontend, API, Backend, Database, and Integration layers — and a natural curiosity about how these pieces fit together as a whole system
  • Basic familiarity with at least one design notation such as UML, BPMN, C4, or ArchiMate
  • Some exposure to modern engineering practices such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD), API-first, event-driven architecture, containerization, or cloud-native and serverless development
  • A genuine passion for staying at the forefront of modern solution design patterns, actively following industry trends and emerging practices
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders such as product owners and IT management
  • A logical approach to problem solving with the ability to break down complexity, and high attention to detail
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • You must also have the right to work in Australia

What would set you apart

  • Certification in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman

Benefits of working at Accenture:

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
