Position: Solution Architect
Client is looking for a Solution Architect to sit within their Domestic Retail & Digital technology team, reporting to the Domain Architect. The role focuses on defining and delivering business-aligned technical solutions across assigned initiatives — from solution options and recommendations all the way through to delivery oversight. This is a Digital Channels-focused Solution Architect role. The client has been very clear on this point:
• Experience designing solutions for web and/or mobile applications
• Digital channels solution architecture — customer-facing platforms, digital journeys, online/app experiences
• API-led integration for digital products (REST, API gateways, identity/auth)
• Cloud architecture in a digital product context (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture framework experience
• Large-scale enterprise delivery with strong stakeholder management (top-to-bottom)
• Agile ways of working
• Health, insurance, banking or similarly regulated industry background preferred
Position Description
• Experience with large scale corporate infrastructure & systems.
• Proven experience in at least one of the following topics: digital strategy, modern architectural practices, business transformation, modernization & optimisation
• Demonstrated ability in working through organisational complexity with pace.
• Working experience as a solution architect in a large and complex environment delivering large programs of work, particularly with top-to-bottom stakeholder management and communications.
• Experience with one or more Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
• In-depth knowledge of Agile ways of working, LEAN, Human Centred Design, and supporting processes, principles and design capabilities.
• Demonstrated grasp of Architecture techniques and ability to work effectively with senior business stakeholders and initiative owners.
• Commercial acumen in the context of business growth, with an understanding of technology strategies relative to commercial risk and reward (e.g. build vs buy vs partner etc.)
• Experience working within matrix structures, with demonstrated ability to broker outcomes effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and peers.
• Experience in working within an organisation undergoing considerable rapid change in its business strategy and operating model
• Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities
Top 3 responsibilities
• Identify a variety of solution options and drive a collaborative process to engage stakeholders to analyse the pros/cons and implications of each option, and decide on the right option to proceed with.
• Develop potential solutions based on existing systems, new commercial off-the-shelf or custom developed solutions as appropriate, integrating with Bupa and third party systems using established integration patterns.
• Develop the solution architecture deliverable and guide high level detailed design undertaken by Solution Design / Application Architecture resources & other SMEs.
