The Opportunity

Our Band 1 ranked Competition, Regulation and Trade practice is expanding, and we have the opportunity for an experienced Solicitor or Senior Associate to join the team. This role can be based in the Sydney or Melbourne office.

Our team is widely recognised by peers and legal directories as one of the leading teams in the field. We advise many of Australia's and the world's leading organisations, across the full spectrum of competition, consumer law and regulatory work, including cartel and behavioural investigations, litigation, merger clearances, and regulatory advice.

Our clients operate in a wide range of industry sectors including telecommunications, tech, energy and natural resources, financial institutions, infrastructure, transport, manufacturing and industrials and retail.
Under the leadership of Partners Linda Evans, Liza Carver, Patrick Gay, Sarah Benbow, Patrick Clark, Stephanie Panayi and Jared Peut, our competition practice works as both a close national and global team, which will provide career opportunities you simply cannot get elsewhere.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience in a leading competition law team or relevant regulator experience in Australia.

  • In-depth experience with a range of competition and consumer law matters, particularly merger clearances and a keen interest in developing expertise with the new merger control regime.

  • An excellent academic record, and natural commitment to continuous learning.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to supervise junior lawyers, cultivating a strong team culture and supporting their development.

  • An ability to work successfully to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously.

  • A curiosity about our client's businesses, and a commitment to strengthening relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to support the ongoing growth of the practice.

  • An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
