About the team:

MX-QA team takes pride in ensuring the end-to-end system of the Meraki-MX product line is ready to use. The team works on, but is not limited to, testing functionality, customer use-cases, integration testing, scalability testing, stress and longevity testing. This efficacy team is responsible for qualifying cellular wireless protocols over MX. The team is also involved in security services such as malware detection, URL filtering, web security, IPS, threat modelling, and SaaS/IaaS security capabilities. Our products are used in over a million networks and our customers rely on our products to serve tens of millions of people. With the large footprint that we have, quality is our highest priority. 

About the Job:

Meraki is looking for a Software QA Technical Leader to join to support qualifying our SD-WAN product offerings with prominence in cellular/wireless capability. As a Software QA Technical Leader, your responsibility includes designing and building testbeds, creating and executing functional tests that resemble customer use-case for SD-WAN and cellular solutions, and contributing to industry-leading technologies in the cloud ecosystem. As the demand increases, you must adapt to new wireless technologies such as 5G, 6G, etc. You need to develop coherent and cross-platform validations for current and future customer use cases. As a part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with multiple Meraki engineering teams and stakeholders around the globe. To be successful in this role, you will need to have motivation, curiosity, passion for problem-solving, and experience with telco technologies and automation as a breath.

In addition to driving test strategy, test planning and performing testing on large-scale networks you will provide technical leadership to drive and implement new ideas to optimize and alleviate the team.

What You Will Be Doing

 Develop a comprehensive understanding of the use cases/workflows of the cellular solution deployed in the customer environment.

 Participate in requirements/design discussions with Product managers & development team and represent the QA team.

 Design a test strategy document for the Meraki MX features and collaborate with other QA and development teams to cover all aspects of the features being developed.

 Execution of tests and reporting test results, and test metrics pertaining to these tests.

 Develop automation scripts in parallel or ahead with feature testing to enable CI/CD (i.e Automation Driven Testing)

 Identify, evaluate and propose new test tools and methodologies for improving functional qualification over various platforms.

 Analyze the test gaps that resulted in customer issues and incorporate them into the test strategy.

 Proactively, Identify gaps in the regression test automation and improve automation coverage.

 Provide leadership & mentorship to the MX QA team and guide junior engineers in developing test-plan and reviewing their work.

 Invest in innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to foster the originality of ideas to productize them.

What You Would Bring

 12+ years of firmware/embedded software testing experience in a data networking environment

 8+ years of test automation experience possibly with cellular technology

 Understanding of LTE and 5G architectures and use of it on the modem side.

 Outstanding programming skills with scripting languages like Ruby and/or Python
• Working experience with IPoE - IPv6 and DS

 Solid understanding of core network protocols like TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, etc.

 Passionate about automation testing.

 Hands-on experience on R&S, Amarisoft, real MME/eNodeB & use of EPC.

 Experience in scaling or performance testing using equipment such as Ixia or Spirent.

 Used development infrastructure tools such as Jenkins, Git, Gerrit, and JIRA.

 Effective communication skills and proven track record of collaboration with stakeholders.

 Experience in technically leading a team of network test engineers. 

What makes you stand out

 Expertise in 3GPP, NAS protocol, RRC, and modem SDK.

 Testing experience in security or cloud networking environment

 Worked with virtualization or container technology, such as ESXi, Xen, Docker, etc.

 Research of applications and Framework experience – Acquired patent(s), Published White-paper / Yellow paper on embedded solutions

 Experience with developing frameworks for CI/CD pipeline

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter.  Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
