Software Engineering Manager

About the role

We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of Transurban’s Customer, Billing and Collections platforms. This is a strategic leadership role combining technical expertise and people management, focused on modern engineering practices, platform stability, and enabling transformative initiatives across domestic markets. You’ll work closely with delivery teams, architects, and stakeholders to drive best-in-class outcomes for mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Set technical direction, software engineering standards, and development excellence for Customer, Billing and Collections eco-system.
• Team & Delivery Management: Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
• Platform & Operational Excellence: Oversee platform health, third-level support, and continuous improvement including technical debt reduction.
• Strategic Planning: Contribute to technology roadmaps, workforce strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to support business priorities.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal teams, vendors, and leadership to align initiatives with customer and business outcomes.

Skill set we are looking for

• Experience in Information Technology with experience in technical leadership roles (solution architecture, software development).
• Strong experience in managing and leading a software engineering/ development team.
• Expertise with engineering capabilities across CRM, Billing, Payments, Data Management and API Integration.
• Experience in SDLC and using the principles of Agile, CI-CD and DevSecOps.
• Proven experience in large-scale platform delivery, integration of COTS systems, and cloud-based environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management, commercial acumen, and people leadership skills.
• Experience leading teams of more than 10 people and looking for an opportunity to take on more responsibility and lead a larger team
