Focus of the Role

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, cloud-native solutions that integrate with large language models (LLMs), while contributing to the evolution of internal AI frameworks. This role offers opportunities to grow into full-stack and platform-level responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

Product & Technology - Software Engineering & IT develops and maintains Telstra's software and IT systems, working on some really cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build AI-powered backend services and contribute to the development of internal AI frameworks and reusable components.

  • Design and refine prompts for LLMs to ensure accurate, context-aware responses.

  • Integrate with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph to enable dynamic AI workflows.

  • Connect services to cloud-native AI platforms like Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock.

  • Deploy containerized or serverless microservices using AWS ECS Fargate and AWS Lambda.

  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to support API integration into React-based user interfaces.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following internal standards.

  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across development and staging environments.

  • Participate in documentation, code reviews, and internal knowledge sharing.

  • Stay current with trends in LLM tooling, AI orchestration, and cloud-native development.

About You

Essential Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building scalable backend services.

  • Deep understanding of prompt engineering and LLM interaction patterns.

  • Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar AI orchestration tools.

  • Experience working with MCP server environments for modular AI service deployment.

  • Familiarity with containerized or serverless deployments on AWS (Lambda and ECS fargate).

  • Exposure to Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock.

  • Experience with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in agile teams.

  • Awareness of testing strategies and service virtualization techniques, especially relevant to automation and quality assurance environments.

Desirable (Growth Areas)

  • Good to have knowledge of backend frameworks like Spring Boot (Java), with a readiness to learn and apply them as needed.

  • Willingness to learn and contribute to frontend development using React.js.
