About the team
Come build the next generation of global business payments built on top of stablecoins. Coinbase is working on multiple zero-to-one products that enable businesses to integrate stablecoins into their financial operations, unlocking instant global payments, streamlining ecommerce checkouts, effortless vendor invoicing, secure treasury management, and much more. Our mission is to update the system for the $100T+ business payments market, and we’re just getting started.
As a Software Engineer, you'll design and scale systems that power business payment workflows like Global Payouts, Payment Links, Invoicing, etc. You’ll lead high-impact projects, integrate new blockchains, and work closely with cross-functional teams to bring stablecoin utility to businesses of all sizes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, build, and scale backend systems that power stablecoin-based business payment workflows, including Global Payouts, Payment Links, Invoicing, and related financial products used by businesses worldwide.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of well-scoped features and services, from technical design and implementation through launch, monitoring, and continuous iteration in production.
- Contribute to zero-to-one product development by writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and by participating in thoughtful code reviews to uphold high engineering standards.
- Integrate blockchains, payment rails, and internal financial systems to enable fast, secure, and reliable global business payments at scale.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, designers, and compliance partners to deliver high-quality, user-centric payment experiences that meet real business needs.
What we look for in you:
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of building, shipping, and operating production systems.
- Experience working on consumer- or business-facing products at scale, with an understanding of reliability, performance, and the impact of engineering decisions on end users.
- Proven ability to design, build, scale, and maintain backend services, and to compose systems using service-oriented or microservices architectures.
- Solid foundations in distributed systems, APIs, and data modeling, particularly for transactional, financial, or high-throughput systems.
- Strong engineering craftsmanship: you write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code that balances technical rigor with delivering value to customers.
Nice to Have
- Experience growing with a company through rapid scale (e.g., startup to mid-size or beyond).
- Background in fintech, payments, blockchain, or other regulated domains.
