Introduction to the Team:

Expedia Platform Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.  

Our team in EG is responsible for building a core platform that includes life cycle management of account, access and clusters; standardize governance by configuring network, security, observability, data and AI through core platform to make the infrastructure available for several hundred production services in EG. The position focuses on achieving efficiency and maintaining compliance posture across different cloud infrastructure domains through automation and AI adoption.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and evolve highly available, performant, and secure services and APIs, including low-level design, API design, and data modeling to support complex business capabilities across multiple domains.

  • Own end-to-end implementation for medium-to-large features and services, from technical design and coding through testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support in a modern CI/CD and cloud environment.

  • Collaborate closely with product, architecture, and peer engineering teams to break down ambiguous problems, define technical approaches, and deliver solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and observable.

  • Improve code quality, reliability, and engineering efficiency by driving best practices in coding standards, automated testing, code reviews, and documentation across the team.

  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, using logs, metrics, and tracing to identify root causes and implement resilient fixes that enhance the stability of services spanning multiple components.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Professional software development experience building and operating production services or applications, including working proficiency in at least one modern programming language and related frameworks.

  • Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end delivery for services or features, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operational support for a service or set of services.

  • Proven experience with system design (including low-level design), API design, and data modeling to build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems in a service-oriented or microservices environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and evolving distributed, cloud-based systems at scale, including performance optimization, resiliency patterns, and effective use of observability to operate always-on services.

  • Track record of leading the technical design for complex features or services, influencing architectural direction within a team or domain, and mentoring other engineers on design and implementation best practices.

  • Strong focus on operational excellence, including automated testing strategies, continuous delivery, monitoring, alerting, and participating in on-call or incident response to improve service reliability over time.

  • Hands-on experience integrating or extending AI/ML‑enabled solutions within production systems, such as using AI-powered developer tools, recommendation or ranking services, or intelligent automation to improve product or engineering outcomes.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve software and customer outcomes.
