Role: Software Developer - Data Engineer

InfoCentric are currently hiring for a Software Developer/Data Engineer. As part of our team, you will be working with some of Australia's largest organisations to deliver industry leading data solutions. This role is full time and permanent, based out of Melbourne.


Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop software packages in R, Planning Analytics and Python, programming languages, to drive all the business decisions based on data.
  • Develop unit test scripts for all the new and existing features in the programming language code, R and Planning analytics, to deliver reliable and robust IT products to the users.
  • Successfully document the programming language code by using tools, confluence and GIT, to create an end-user document and technical document for the users.
  • Perform requirement and risk analysis, which include activities like consulting stakeholders, gathering business requirements and creating risk reports for the IT projects.
  • Automate IT processes by using tools, GoCD and Ansible, for continuous integration, testing and deployment of programming code to deliver an IT product effectively.
  • Performing system support activities like auditing systems, planning for upgrades and communicating impacted users to ensure systems are in good health.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging activities by using tools, PuTTY and R, to debug all the errors in the software code and make sure it adheres to the IT coding standards.


About you:

  • At least 2 (two) years experience in a related field
  • Excellent communications and client-facing consulting skills
  • Exposure in building systems and services in the cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS) using Java and the latest front-end technologies.
  • AngularJS, GraphQL experience is preferred.
  • Exposure in building systems with event streaming, service bus or message queues (Azure Event Hubs/Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar)
  • Understanding code testability, experience in build pipelines and DevOps (CI/CD systems, infrastructure as code)
