Change.org is searching for a Social Media Specialist to build Change.org’s social presence. You will report to our Comms Manager, Australia. As a key member of our Marketing & Communications team, you’ll create and maintain active social channels, create high performance social media content, and act as a steward for the Change.org Australia brand.

From mobilizing over 5 million people to investigate the fires in the Amazon, to mobilizing nearly 3 million against war and famine in Yemen, to large-scale mobilizations for the people of Iran and against the war in Ukraine, and calling for Racial Justice in the US, many movements were born on Change.org. Dozens of local, national, and international victories are happening every day thanks to the strength of our members who are changing the lives of people around the world. We want to help them go even further and we need your help!
Key Outcomes:
- Create and maintain active TikTok and Instagram channels with an established tone of voice and the potential for virality
- Create high performance video and static social media posts about the Change.org brand and petitions on our site, sourcing content from petition starters, UGC and online
- Be on top of compelling issues, news stories, and trends to identify the right moment to elevate campaigns through social. Use these moments drive brand awareness and campaign impact.
- Deliver/edit templates to reflect the Australian brand
- Increase activity on Facebook and Bluesky channels
- Upskill the team on core social skills
The most important core competencies for the role are:
- Skilled in creating engaging, timely social content, ideally in the social impact space
- Ability to act as a steward for the brand
- Skilled in turning quality content around based on a brief, while bringing their own creative flair
- Experience in contributing to the development of a social media strategy, with knowledge regarding best practice in this area
- Willingness to work across difference, including providing support to policy-compliant campaigns that you may not agree with but align with Change.org’s commitment to being an open platform.
- A good understanding of Australia’s news and social media landscape, particularly including coverage and trends around social justice, economic, political and environmental issues.

This is a part time contract role (2 days/week), and while we strongly prefer folks living in Melbourne, we are open to folks across Australia. The pay is a rate of AUD $418/day.
