It combines hands-on, high-level design work with a real passion for mentoring our more junior team members.

At (i.e.,), everyone is welcome, regardless of your background, origin, love interests, faith, disability status, ethnicity, or the gender you identify with (please share your pronouns). We actively seek individuals who embody qualities of integrity and empathy. Our people are our most valuable asset, and the diverse skills and perspectives that individuals contribute to our team are key drivers of our success.

About the opportunity

As a Senior UI Designer, you will have the opportunity to own the UI direction and design system delivery for our largest enterprise client. Your primary role is to ensure visual quality, consistency, and scalability across all digital products.

You will sit within a cross-functional team to support with:

  • Design System Leadership - Designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable design systems to ensure consistency across large-scale organisations. This includes defining component libraries and documentation for handover to engineering teams.
  • High-Quality UI/UX Design - Delivering pixel-perfect, accessible, and high-fidelity user interface designs for complex enterprise applications. While the role leans heavily toward UI, strong foundational UX chops are essential.
  • Consulting & Expertise - Guiding our clients on technical feasibility, design best practices, and showcasing your expertise (and that of your team) to senior stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management - Acting as a bridge between design, product, and technical teams, confidently communicating design rationale and technical details to senior management.
  • Mentoring - Guiding and mentoring more junior team members, sharing your knowledge on technical design, component architecture, and best practices to support their growth and development.

About You

We are looking for a Senior Designer ready to hit the ground running, operating at scale in an enterprise environment.

Core Experience & Skills:

  • Design Systems Mastery: Proven, demonstrated experience in building, governing, and scaling a design system for large-scale digital products, focusing on consistency and flexibility.
  • Technical Chops: An interest in and ability to speak to the technical implementation of your designs. Experience as a 'Technical Designer' (understanding component structure, variables, tokens, etc.) would be highly beneficial.
  • Adaptive Design: Experience designing for any screen size, with a focus on flexible, responsive principles rather than individual breakpoints.
  • Attention to Detail & Documentation: A commercially driven mindset with an absolute commitment to detail and the ability to produce immaculate, well-documented design files ready for engineering handoff.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with no trouble translating complex implementation details and recommendations for less technical members of the cross-functional team.
  • Seniority: You enjoy taking ownership, defining the technical design direction of an engagement, and inspiring a high standard of work in those around you.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
