The Enterprise Technology team is currently focused on the Atlassian platform, including JSM, Jira and Confluence). You'll operate as a senior analyst, partnering closely with product, engineering, vendors, and stakeholders all across Xero. The core team consists of one other Senior Systems Analyst and two Systems Analysts based in New Zealand. Together, the team ensures the Atlassian platform is continually configured, administered, and improved to translate business needs into scalable, high-quality solutions. While the team is distributed, they are part of the broader Enterprise Technology hub in Melbourne with some team members in Sydney. This role offers flexibility as it can be hybrid or remote, with no mandated office days.

The role / impact

As a Senior Systems Analyst, your core responsibility is the configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of Xero's Atlassian platform and its key integrations. This involves managing environments, workflows, schemes, automations, and apps as part of day-to-day platform ownership. You will operate as a system expert, addressing system decisions and incidents as a final point of escalation, providing timely communication and coordination across teams. This will include a strong focus on Jira Service Management as Xero looks to mature its usage of this critical internal support tool.

A significant part of the role involves high-level problem-solving and stakeholder management. You'll engage with stakeholders and delivery teams to fully understand, document, and communicate processes, workflows, requirements, and solution options. This requires analysing work requests, clarifying audiences and intended outcomes, and supporting the Product Manager with delivery planning and backlog prioritisation.

Initially, the role may focus on

  • Configuring, administering, and improving Confluence, Jira, and JSM, as well as related integrations
  • Managing system environments, workflows, schemes, and automations within the Atlassian platform
  • Providing support and mentorship to peers, acting as a point of escalation for system decisions and incidents
  • Contributing to the Enterprise Technology practices and standards by creating and maintaining program and team artefacts, such as requirements and process maps

  • You will have a strong background in the Atlassian toolset, including Confluence, Jira, and Jira Service Management (JSM)
  • You will bring strong, hands-on experience in business requirements gathering and solution delivery, ideally within Agile delivery teams
  • You will demonstrate strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills, translating objectives into clear, actionable requirements and success measures
  • You will be confident in engaging with and managing senior stakeholders and vendors, leading through influence and managing priorities collaboratively
  • You will have proven capability in mentoring and leadership, helping to foster a collaborative and customer-centric culture
