Our Team

Thales Australia’s Airspace Mobility Solutions (AMS) business, part of the Global Business Unit Land and Air Systems, is providing leading edge Air Traffic Management (ATM), Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM), Security and Digital Aviation solutions for the Commercial and Defence sectors. 

This role is within the Systems Engineering Discipline which supports and enables mobility between projects to meet the needs of the AMS business. The initial programme area for this role will be ATC Export.
 

Your role

The role of ATM Operational Specialist is a key role for the TopSky-One project and as part of the The Senior System Engineer is responsible for designing and documenting solution proposals, with reference to a defined system functional baseline, to satisfy customer requirements and project/bid cost targets. The role will focus on the enhancement of the existing product line, and the position requires an individual with strong technical negotiation skills to support resolution of issues with sub-contractors and the customer. This position will be based at the World Trade Centre in Melbourne CBD.

Some key accountabilities include:

  • Defining Systems solutions that deliver the best trade-off between requirements, cost, schedule and risk, which meet our customer’s needs

  • Preparing and conducting specification reviews; lead technical working groups both internally and externally to define technical solutions and resolve issues with our sub-contractors and customer

  • Provide technical direction to internal teams and sub-contractors

  • Documenting solution in Engineering Change Proposals

  • Maintaining traceability between customer requirements and the design

  • Providing technical oversight and support to other team members (E.g. Integration and V&V) on Systems topics
     

On day one you will come with:

  • Experience in Air Traffic Control management

  • Experience in dataset preparation for an ATM System

  • A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline

  • Have knowledge of Australian ATM domain and Air Traffic Management standards eg. ICAO, Eurocontrol, AID

  • High level of understanding on dataset / adaptation data goals and impacts

  • Capability to work with various stakeholders having different objectives

  • Capability to work in a multi-cultural environment and with variety of international customers
     

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
