We build and steward the core platforms used across the SEEK Marketplace and connect teams across the SEEK Group to our online ecosystem. Today, our remit includes services like Jobs, Profile, Apply, Identity, and Notifications, alongside essential back-office capabilities.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will set technical direction, own critical architectures, and enable teams at scale across the SEEK Marketplace.
Shape the vision and technical roadmap for our Marketplace Developer Platform, defining composable, resilient interfaces and contracts that scale globally and are a joy to use.
Lead the unification of our Single Identity Platform, setting standards for authentication, authorization, and personalization, and guiding end-to-end migration and adoption.
Drive the modernization of our Notification System architecture, establishing event-driven patterns, reliability/SLOs, and delivery pathways that enable meaningful Candidate–Hirer conversations.
Own end-to-end architecture for Profile, Apply, and Jobs services, making principled design decisions, managing technical risk, and guiding teams through high-impact, multi-quarter initiatives.
Accelerate autonomy for Candidate, Hirer, and AI teams by delivering developer-centric self-service capabilities, documentation, and golden paths that remove friction and improve delivery velocity.
Act as the senior technical escalation point, mentoring Staff Engineers, influencing cross-domain decisions, and ensuring our platforms are secure, observable, and cost-effective.
You’ll translate business goals into clear technical objectives, KPIs, and SLOs across Profile, Apply, Jobs, Identity, and Notifications, setting reliability targets and operating standards while managing risk and trade-offs. You’ll define and evolve integration contracts, versioning, and deprecation plans so teams can adopt changes safely and incrementally across APAC, backed by golden paths, SDKs, and reference implementations that reduce time-to-first-value and lift delivery velocity.
You’ll lead technical discovery to de-risk architecture choices and turn findings into sequenced roadmaps, while driving platform health through simplification, cost efficiency, and security-by-default measured against agreed technical health metrics. You’ll align patterns and decisions through cross-domain forums and ADRs/RFCs, mentor Staff and Senior Engineers in system design and operational excellence, and communicate progress and ROI to technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure trust and sustained adoption.
QualificationsProven track record designing and evolving scalable, distributed platforms that serve millions of users with high availability, performance, and security.
Demonstrated ability to set technical direction across multiple teams, assess and adopt emerging technologies pragmatically, and make architectural decisions that shape company-wide engineering.
Deep engineering background spanning full‑stack development, cloud‑native architectures, and event‑driven systems, with hands-on ownership of services end to end.
Established history of defining and embedding engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns that lift team productivity and quality at scale.
Strong operational leadership, including SLO design, monitoring and observability, incident response, capacity planning, and continuous optimisation for cost, reliability, and resilience.
Recognised mentor and multiplier who grows technical leaders, develops Staff/Senior Engineers, and builds healthy engineering communities.
