About depthfirst

We believe that software is the foundation of modern civilization. Yet vulnerabilities threaten its integrity, security, and resilience. We are on a mission to secure the world's software.

depthfirst is building intelligence to detect and remediate critical software vulnerabilities. We are training and scaling security AI agents to discover zero-day vulnerabilities across large customer codebases and popular open-source software.

Our founding team brings deep expertise in data, infrastructure, security, and AI, with leaders from DeepMind, Databricks, Square, and Faire. We're looking for thoughtful, driven people excited to work at the intersection of AI, Security, and Infrastructure.

About This Role

We're looking for an exceptional Senior Solutions Engineer to help drive depthfirst's growth across Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ). This is a high-impact, customer-facing opportunity to play a foundational role in expanding our regional presence, partnering with some of the world's most sophisticated enterprises, and helping organizations transform how they secure software with AI.

You'll own the technical sales motion for strategic and enterprise customers, from initial discovery and solution design through proof of value, technical validation, and executive alignment. You'll work directly with CISOs, security leaders, and engineering teams to understand complex security challenges, demonstrate the differentiated value of depthfirst's platform, and guide customers through successful technical evaluations.

As an early member of our APJ go-to-market team, you'll have the opportunity to help shape our regional technical strategy, establish scalable evaluation processes, and build trusted relationships with customers and partners. We're looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial instincts, exceptional communication skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

You're excited about this role because you will…
  • Own and lead complex technical sales engagements across APJ, partnering with Account Executives to support strategic enterprise opportunities from discovery through technical validation and close.

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to CISOs, CTOs, Security leaders, and Engineering teams, helping customers understand how AI-native security can transform their application security programs.

  • Design, execute, and lead sophisticated proofs of value (POVs), establishing clear success criteria tied to vulnerability detection quality, false positive reduction, remediation speed, and measurable business outcomes.

  • Demonstrate how depthfirst differentiates from traditional SAST, SCA, and application security solutions through contextual code understanding, reachability and exploitability analysis, and AI-driven vulnerability discovery.

  • Work hands-on within customer development environments, including source code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and developer workflows, to ensure seamless technical evaluations and adoption.

  • Partner with enterprise sales teams to develop account strategies, navigate complex technical buying committees, overcome objections, and accelerate deal progression.

  • Translate complex technical findings into compelling business value and executive-ready presentations for senior security, engineering, and business stakeholders.

  • Build strong relationships with regional customers, technology partners, and security communities to help establish depthfirst's presence and credibility across APJ.

  • Act as the voice of the customer, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Research to share technical feedback, identify emerging requirements, and influence product direction.

  • Help build and scale our global Solutions Engineering function by developing repeatable demo environments, evaluation frameworks, technical playbooks, and best practices.

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, ownership, and adaptability as an early technical go-to-market hire in a rapidly expanding region.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Security Engineer, or similar, ideally supporting enterprise or strategic accounts.

  • Strong technical foundation in application security, vulnerability management, secure software development, or related cybersecurity disciplines.

  • Deep understanding of modern software development workflows, source code management, CI/CD systems, and developer tooling.

  • Experience leading complex enterprise technical evaluations, proofs of concept, or proofs of value, including defining success criteria and demonstrating measurable customer outcomes.

  • Ability to engage confidently with both highly technical practitioners and senior executive stakeholders, translating complex security concepts into clear business value.

  • Experience supporting enterprise customers across Australia and/or the broader APJ region, with an understanding of regional customer expectations and buying dynamics.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges within customer environments.

  • Experience collaborating closely with enterprise sales teams to develop technical account strategies, navigate complex sales cycles, and support successful commercial outcomes.

  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced startup environment, with the ability to build processes, manage competing priorities, and thrive in ambiguity.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for AI, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

  • Based in Australia, with willingness to travel across Australia and the broader APJ region as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with application security tools, including SAST, SCA, DAST, or other vulnerability detection technologies.

  • Familiarity with common application vulnerabilities, exploitation techniques, and secure coding practices.

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, and modern development environments.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java.

  • Experience supporting a new market or regional expansion within a high-growth technology company.

  • Background in developer-focused, cloud security, or AI-powered security products.

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation with meaningful equity

  • Opportunity to play a foundational role in building depthfirst's presence across APJ

  • Direct collaboration with experienced leaders across AI, Security, Engineering, and Go-to-Market

  • High ownership and impact as an early member of a rapidly scaling team

  • The opportunity to help shape the future of AI-powered software security

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
